RECIPE IDEAS:
Originally from the Mediterranean, this beautiful white bulb with bright, feathery greens is a member of the carrot family. It is crunchy and refreshing with a mild anise or black licorice flavor, which becomes less strong after cooking. Fennel is a great source of potassium and vitamin C and can strengthen hair and rid the body of toxins.
AVAILABILITY:
June - November
STORAGE TIPS:
Store loosely wrapped in plastic in the refrigerator. Best used within a week, but it usually keeps longer.
CULINARY TIPS:
The bulb does have a core that you’ll need to cut out
Eat raw or cooked
Use the fronds in salad or as garnish
Grill or roast until tender
